House Swann

From Bronze and Iron: An Andal Invasions AGOT Roleplay Project
Among the sternest of the Marcher seats are Stonehelm, the ancient seat of House Swann, with its watchtowers of black and white stone, which stands above the waters of the river Slayne with its rapids, pools, and waterfalls.

Arms of House Swann

House Swann of Stonehelm is a First Man house of marcher lords from the Eastern Marches. They are sworn to House Durrandon. House Swann's seat is Stonehelm, an ancient castle overlooking the Slayne River built out of white and black stone - it is located in the Red Watch, a region where the Red Mountains of Dorne meet Cape Wrath.

From Stonehelm, they have control over the Slayne river-route into the inlands of the Stormlands, which they have profited off immensely.

The Swanns' have taken for their arms argent and sable a swan counter charged. Their words are "On White Feathered Wings".

History

The Swanns claim they are the oldest of the marcher houses, which is disputed by House Caron, and are regarded as prideful, strong, and prudent. As far as anyone can tell, the Swanns have ruled over Stonehelm in the Red Watch for as long as anyone can remember, and their history goes far back into the Age of Heroes.

During the early Andal Invasions, Andal invaders under House Polander took the southern island chain of the Severisles for themselves, exiling the local lords previously sworn to Stonehelm and repelling a Swann attempt to take the isles back. The Swanns have been distrusting of Andals since.
