House Greatiron

House Greatiron are a House of Ironborn descent, situated on the Giant's Fist. Their seat is Ironmark, a castle on the shores of a sheltered cove on the northern coast of the peninsula, off Blazewater Bay.

History

House Greatiron maintains the tradition that they descent from the Grey King by way of House Greyiron of Orkmont, being the sons of salt wives, or illegitimate children who had to find their own way back to land and lordship. House Greatiron was landed following the conquests of King Qhored I Blacktyde, but did not come to rule the Ironborn territories there until the reconquest by Loron Greyjoy, who viewed many of the 'Ironborn' Houses on the Fist with suspicion, but took House Greatiron's historical tradition as a sign of loyalty, and thus rewarded them with lordship - if not the title of Rock or Salt King.

House Greatiron partook in the Massacre on Nagga's Hill, when Urron Redhand claimed the title of King by slaughtering all the Rock and Salt Kings of the Isles whilst they put forward their claims.
