While the Kingsmoot was ongoing, Urron had led some of his crew up Nagga's Hill to take up positions outside the ring of claimants and captains. It is unknown who struck the first blow or whether a signal was given, but this is when the slaughter began. Based off of an eyewitness report from Harmund Hayes, it is known that Andrik Goodbrother was slain by a throwing axe; Wolmer Codd slit Harras Hoare's throat; [[Gorold Greatiron]] ordered the lords of the [[The Giant's Fist|Giant's Fist]] to begin attacking, while Urron also ordered his axemen forward - largely members of his own household, his ship's crew, as well as his bannermen in houses Orkwood and Netley.

Many members of kingly houses were killed, and Urron 'Redhand' himself decapitated the most senior Drowned Priest present before declaring himself the one and only King of the Iron Islands.
