History edit

House Oakheart like many houses of the Reach claims descent from a child of Garth Greenhand, his son John The Oak, fathered from a Giantess, a huge man said to be 8 or 12 feet tall in some tales. [1] The Oakhearts have a particularly long and bloody history with the dornish, being involved in multiple wars between the Reach and the various First Men kings of Dorne.

The petty kings of Old Oak became part of the realm of King Garth III Gardener of the Reach by forging an alliance based on friendship and shared protection. [2]

King Lancel I Lannister once conquered south into the Reach all the way to Old Oak before he fell in battle and his son Loreon III lost all his conquests, earning the epithet "The Limp".
