House Oakheart is a house of First Men origin, their seat is Old Oak situated in the center of the Old Road on the western coast of the Reach. House Oakheart is a vassal of the Gardeners of Highgarden.

History

House Oakheart like many houses of the Reach claims descent from a child of Garth Greenhand, his son John The Oak, fathered from a Giantess, a huge man said to be 8 or 12 feet tall in some tales. The Oakhearts have a particularly long and bloody history with the dornish, being involved in multiple wars between the Reach and the various First Men kings of Dorne.

The Petty Kings of Old Oak eventually joined the Reach during the reign of Garth III Gardener through pacts of friendship and mutual defense. King Lancel I Lannister once conquered south into the reach all the way to Old Oak before he fell in battle and his son Loreon III lost all his conquests, earning the epithet "The Limp".

Notable Members

Edgerran Oakheart - Known for fighting the dornish, commemorated in a tapestry depicting him with 100 dornish heads at his feet.

Alester Oakheart - Died in the Prince's Pass sounding his horn to the last breath, commemorated in a tapestry at Old Oak.
