Meryn III Gardener is remembered as the king who peacefully added the Arbor to Highgarden’s dominion, completing the consolidation of the Reach’s southern seas.

History[edit]

Fortune intervened when the last King of the Arbor was lost at sea; King Meryn III swiftly negotiated vassalage with the Redwynes who survived him, drawing the rich isle into the kingdom without a single sword stroke. [2]

With Oldtown and the Arbor both sworn, Highgarden commanded the Mander’s mouth, the Redwyne Straits, and the open Sunset Sea.

Quotes about Meryn III[edit]

“With the death of the last Arbor King, the future of the isles was decided by the Gardeners.”
