History[edit]
Lancel Lanny was born the second son of Magnar Adrian of Ashmark, unlike his older brother Lars, who was sent away to Casterly Rock to ward and squire for King Tyrion I, Lancel was raised in Ashmark proper, in the wild highlands and among the clans that would later become his friends and family more so than his own kin.
Lancel was born an albino and a skinchanger, considered a child chosen by the Old Gods, but times had shifted in the Rock, for andals and the new faith had moved in, magnars converting en masse to please the Lannisters. This new faith led to animosity and hatred between Lars and Lancel, both desiring Ashmark, both thinking their way right and both willing to spill blood over the matter.
The rivalry was ended prematurely however, when during the Reyne-Crakehall rebellion, Adrian Lanny died to a mace to the head and Lars Lanny suffered from a pox in the siege camps near Castamere, eventually succumbing to his disease and leaving Lancel as the magnar and house head of Ashmark. Lancel continued the war effort against the rebels, alongside the Vances of the Rivermark, sieging Castamere and Crakehall both. At war's end the Lannys received The Pendric Hills as payment, but the refusal to grant the other promised lands and the dismissal of Lancel's council from the Lannister royals led to animosity and distrust brewing in the magnar of Ashmark.
Tyrion I Lannister and later Tybolt I Lannister named Lancel Lanny their chief advisor, a position the albino often left derelict, missing council meetings and refusing to live in Casterly Rock or Lannisport, instead Lancel redoubled his efforts in Ashmark, becoming the friend of the clan heads of Drop, Hartly and Myatt, finding giants and forging a new pact and searching for the children of the forest, securing one as bride for his brother, having rescued it from the ruins of High Heart.
