Invasion of Fair Isle

The Invasion of Fair Isle was a military campaign lasting approximately two years from 40-43 A.I. where the Ironborn under King Urron Greyiron seized control of Fair Isle from House Farman.
Background[edit]
The Greyirons[edit]

Urron Greyiron had seized control of the Iron Islands in 31 A.I. and wished to legitimize his rule with military conquests. Fair Isle, as an independent realm that had formerly been under Ironborn control, was a clear pick for being targeted. Fair Isle had been determined as an autumn conquest target years before the invasion began.
The Farmans[edit]

Arik Farman was a young king who unfortunately had begun to go mad in the years leading up the invasion. His brother had a marriage with their vassals in House Clifton, but apart from that the Farmans had no allies to help defend their land.
The War[edit]
The war began with a naval invasion led by Gorold Greatiron and made up of by Urron's fleet as well as the forces of House Greyjoy and House Greatiron. The Farman navy was led by King Arik and was defeated by the Ironborn. The landing of the Ironborn then commenced.
The land war lasted for years. As Ironborn laid siege to Faircastle and Clifton, King Arik Farman led his men on dozens of attacks, raids, and skirmishes. Even after Faircastle had fallen, King Arik and his family evaded capture. Finally, he was captured by Horgon Greyjoy and was drowned in the sea. The remainder of House Farman were killed by Greyiron and Greyjoy forces.
Aftermath[edit]
House Greyjoy was given control of Castle Madgerich, and King Urron gave control of the island to his eldest salt son, Urzen Greyiron.
House Farman was made extinct as a result of the war, and House Clifton lost their land, their members going into exile or becoming salt wives.
Gorold Greatiron died at sea while sailing back to the Giant's Fist.
