History[edit]

House Lydden arrived in Westeros alongside the Andal warlord Armistead Vance during the early stages of the invasion. Their loyalty and martial prowess were proven during the Clash of Six Kings, where they fought with distinction alongside Vance’s forces.

As a reward for their service, House Lydden was granted the former lands of House Tully, as well as dominion over several First Men vassals previously loyal to House Blackwood and other deposed river kings. To legitimize their claim, King Artys Vance commissioned the construction of Riverrun as their seat, a new stronghold meant to anchor their authority in the region.

In time, the Lyddens married into the remnants of House Tully, further strengthening their political position. To solidify their legacy and reinforce their claim over the Riverlands, they adopted both the sigil and the words of House Tully, establishing themselves as heirs not only in title but in blood and symbol.

In the war for Seagard, Lord Armistead “the Heathen” Lydden was captured by Sam “the Silent” Greyjoy. Lord Preston “the Kingmaker” Toyne negotiated his release, and in gratitude, Lydden’s daughter married Toyne’s heir, forging a new alliance between their houses.
