A big knight named Ser Godry Farring led them. Godry the Giantslayer. A big name for a small man. Farring was broad-chested and well muscled under his plate and mail. - A Dance With Dragons[1]
House Farring is a young Andal house of knightly origin, founded by the twin brothers Jaime and Argos Farring after their arrival in Westeros, now established in the Riverlands with their seat at Milkstone by the God's Eye.

History
Prior to the Coming of the Andals, the forefathers of House Farring lived in Andalos, and both founders Jaime and Argos lived there for the early years of their life. When the Valyrian dragon-lords moved west-wards however during their conquest of the Rhoynar, the Andals, among them the twins' parents, migrated en masse towards Westeros to avoid the same fate.
Originally they were to land in the Vale to join the likes of Corwyn Corbray for new lands and titles, but the twins' parents died on the voyage, and the two were blown off course to instead arrive in the Blackwater commanding of one of the largest Andal hosts in the region, aside from the warlord Togarion Bar Emmon.
Argos Farring died young, leaving Jaime to forge his own path alone. Jaime travelled widely through the Blackwater bay and the Riverlands, gaining renown as a knight and forming a alliance with House Peasbury, which granted him safe passage and protection in their lands.
During this time, Jaime also found allies among the Fishers of the Misty Isle and eventually married Masha, a daughter of King Thorst Fisher. His rising influence brought him to the attention of King Tristifer IV Mudd, who invited him to join the campaign against Armistead Vance.
Jaime distinguished himself in the war, and in recognition of his service, King Tristifer granted him the lands of Milkstone and rule over the Godsfort, placing him among the trusted lords of the River and the Hills. The construction of their second castle, now serving as their primary seat, has since been completed, Steelmere Watch, a limestone keep built under the direction of Hendry, a master of architecture trained in Andalos.
However, tensions rose when Jaime urged compromise during negotiations with Armistead Vance, something Tristifer refused. The final rupture came after a public insult from Aldhelm Darklyn, prompting Jaime to leave the Mudd cause.
When war returned for the rest of the free southern Riverlands, Jaime refused the Mudd summons and marched instead against House Nutt, kin to both the Mudds and Farrings. Before the campaign began, he drowned under unclear circumstances. His son Throst Farring took command but chose peace over bloodshed.
Tristifer, having learned that Jaime had offered to fight for Vance, was deeply wounded. Yet with Jaime dead and Throst peaceful, he spared the house, on the condition that young Loras Farring be sent to Oldstones as a ward.
