Green Men

From Bronze and Iron: An Andal Invasions AGOT Roleplay Project

The Green Men are a mysterious and sacred order said to dwell upon the Isle of Faces in the middle of the Gods Eye. Their origins trace back to the Pact between the First Men and the Children of the Forest, when they were entrusted with the guardianship of the isle and its weirwood grove. Shrouded in legend and secrecy, they are believed to be keepers of ancient powers, their appearance and nature the subject of both folklore and speculation. [1]

The Isle of Faces is guarded by the Green Men.

History[edit]

Following generations of war between the First Men and the Children of the Forest, peace was finally brokered on the Isle of Faces. There, both peoples agreed to the Pact: the First Men would hold dominion over open lands, while the deep forests would remain under the protection of the Children.

To seal the accord, the Green Men were established as guardians of the isle and of the Pact, preserving the sanctity of the grove for all time. [2]

Throughout history, few have glimpsed the Green Men directly, and even fewer have set foot on the Isle of Faces. Legends maintain that only those who are welcomed may cross the waters of the Gods Eye safely, while others are turned aside. Though the order rarely plays a visible role in the affairs of men, the Green Men endure as a symbol of the pact between the First Men, the Children, and the Old Gods.
