Durran the Kingslayer, around 35 years of age.

Durran the Kingslayer (76 A.I.-) was a son of Durran XIX Durrandon and claimant during the Great Stag Duel.

Appearance

For much of his life, Durran sported a very close-cut hairstyle, with a short full beard. His hair was black, and his eyes stormy blue. Like his father, he was not as stocky as most Durrandons.

Personality

Durran was widely known for his quick temper, but honorable deeds. He showed a great respect for oaths and speaking truth.

The standard used by Durran the Kingslayer's forces during the Great Stag Duel. His supporters were often called 'Golds' and he was sometimes referred to as 'the Black Stag.'

History

Durran was raised at Storm's End, by his father. He was headstrong in his youth, and often quarreled with family and servants both.

When his twenty-first nameday passed, he decided to ride south to avenge his father's failures in Dorne. Arriving alone at Wyl, he demanded a duel with the Yronwood king, Yorick III. He slew the Dornish king and earned his moniker that day, proving his worth and claim on the throne of the Stormlands with such a feat.

He retreated into the marches when Balder Stormblessed named himself Storm King in Storm's End, and rallied the more traditional Stormmen to his banners in the Great Stag Duel. His armies clashed with Balder's in the heartlands of the kingdom, and he largely defeated the Stormblessed's banners, but in doing so he bled his own forces dry. Beron the Boring captured Storm's End with Balder having fled to the Slayne, and Durran's forces couldn't beat back the support Beron accrued from the Rainwood.

With Beron winning the war, Durran sought him out during his coronation, and asked the king for clemency. Beron granted it, and named him regent while the Storm King recovered from his wounds.
