Durran Dondarrion

Durran Dondarrion was the founder and head of House Dondarrion during the reign of Erich VII Durrandon in the early Andal Invasions.

History

During a Dornish invasion led by Olyvar I Yronwood into the Eastern Marches, Durran's father and older brother were killed by Dornish raiders, and afterwards Durran was entrusted with delivering a crucial message to the Storm King Erich VII Durrandon during a stormy night when he was being pursued by two Dornishmen. Legendarily, an arrow killed his horse and his sword broke when he fell. When Durran thought he was doomed, a bright purple lightning bolt struck the Dornishmen, killing both, and he successfully delivered the message, leading to the invasion being repelled. King Erich raised him to lordship over Blackhaven for his service, and Durran became the first Dondarrion, a new line of marcher lords.
