Devlin Wade
Devlin 'the Kingmaker' Wade was a Lord of Deadglade during the early Coming of the Andals.
History[edit]
Devlin was sired by Willem Wade around 9 A.I, while he was still merely Lord of Deadglade and not yet Green King. His mother, Beliona, was a commoner, as it was the practice in those days for Greenblooder Lords to take lowborn wives. Upon the death of his father, he supported the warlike Edred Lake to succeed him as High King of Dorne - for his role in Edred's eventual election and coronation, he became known as 'the Kingmaker'.
Early in Devlin's rule, he aided his King in repulsing an invasion by the House Martell, Andal adventurers who had accrued an immense host. Through tactical acumen and sheer, overwhelming numbers, the Greenblooders prevailed over the invaders, smashing their army and slaying their Captain.
However, not long after the defeat of Martell the Ironborn, having captured the Arbor, began to raid along the southern coast of Dorne. The Ironborn defeated several Greenblooder armies, and captured many women as thralls and men as salt-wives - among the latter was Devlin's daughter, Sarra Wade, wife to the Green King.
Devlin and a coalition of other Greenblooder Lords, along with the Santagars, built and sailed a fleet with the intent of wreaking vengeance upon the Ironborn and rescuing their stolen wives and daughters, but he perished along with his comrades in the Battle of the Arbor Straits. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Gyren Wade.
