Castor Yronwood

From Bronze and Iron: An Andal Invasions AGOT Roleplay Project

Castor Yronwood was a king of the Bloodroyal in the Boneway of Dorne. He reigned from 37 A.I. to 63 A.I.

Though regarded before his coronation as a man of middling talents and ambition, Castor's reign was one of expansion and vitality.

History[edit]

Bloodroyal Castor Yronwood was a king of the Bloodroyal during the first century of the Coming of the Andals. He ascended to the throne after the death of his father, Olyvar Yronwood, facilitating his predecessor's return to the Gods of the Earth. Castor had not the ambition of his father, and though he claimed too the High Kingship of Dorne he sought peace with his immediate neighbors, to mixed results. While he was able to secure a treaty with the Durrandons to his north, he was thrust into a war with the lords of the Greenblood during the Locust Wars, who sought to reclaim the lands conquered from them by his father.

In his later reign, Castor was able to achieve the peaceful subjugation of the Fowlers, accepting oaths of fealty from Roryn Fowler in exchange for protection. This success, however, thrust Yronwood into a conflict with the Brimstoners and Qorgyles, the Second Desert War, despite earlier agreements of friendship and amity between them. Castor would die three years after his defeat in the Second Desert War, of injuries sustained while hunting. He was succeeded by his son, Yoren II Yronwood.

He was known for his poetry, and for the various songs and tales relating to his sexual depravity. Some remember him as an oathbreaker for his actions in the Second Desert War.
