The Arm of Dorne refers to the former peninsula that used to bridge the continents of Westeros and Essos.

History[edit]

The Arm of Dorne is said to have been the primary if not only route for early human migrations into Westeros. Certainly the First Men appeared to have crossed into Westeros via this method. The Arm was said to have been destroyed in some manner of disaster, though there is little to know agreement on what. Some present it as a natural disaster, others say it was the wrath of the Gods of Earth or Sea, whilst others claim it to be the work of the Children of the Forest attempting to prevent more First Men from crossing into Westeros. Whatever the cause, the result was the separation of the two continents, and the formation of the Stepstones, and the Spottswood, which is oft referred to as the 'Broken Arm'.

Geography[edit]

The surviving Stepstone Islands, as well as Spottswood, appear to indicate that the Arm may well have had a thickly jungled and difficult terrain, which makes it most curious as a major migration route.
