Thrall
"There were no slaves in the Iron Islands, only thralls. A thrall was bound to service, but he was not chattel. His children were born free, so long as they were given to the Drowned God. A thrall is a class of servant on The Iron Islands, usually taken prisoner on raids. Thralls generally work the fields and the mines - work considered unworthy of freeborn Ironborn. A child born to a thrall is considered free, and may be taken from their parents at age seven to work on a ship or learn a trade. Or, they may be given over to serve the Drowned God as holy men.
Thrall Houses edit
Sometimes, the freeborn child of a thrall may be raised to the noble class and start a house of their own. They may own lands and cast votes at Kingsmoot, but they are still considered lower class than traditional highborn house of the Isles.
