Galladon of Morne, after finishing his [[The Sapphire March|conquest]] of Tarth, crowned himself king. The expelled [[House Evenstar|Evenstars]] spread word of this, and the Storm King demanded that the new 'king' bend the knee and forfeit his crown. Galladon of Morne refused.

It was during an autumn of vicious storms. The worst the Summer Sea had to offer came barrelling across Cape Wrath - cyclones and thunderstorms the likes of which had not been seen in a generation or more. Shipbreaker Bay tossed and turned, shattering even the smallest of fishing vessels in its terrible fit of rage. It was this autumn that Qarlton Durrandon, Qarlton Halfhand~~, sailed from~~ the ~~Galelands~~, ~~the nearest point between his kingdom~~ and ~~the isle of Tarth. With him sailed~~ Beron Blacktyde, ~~and a small army from the Rainwood. A sight unseen since~~ the ~~Long Night came ashore at Mightpoint: the children of Durran~~, and the ~~children of the forest, united against a common foe~~.

Qarlton Halfhand sought allies to defeat the Andal king, and recruited [[House Uller]], Beron Blacktyde, an exiled Ironborn lord who worshipped the Storm God, and the Green Queen to his cause.

The ~~rains never stopped pouring through~~ the campaign. ~~Lightning speared~~ the ~~sky~~ and ~~thunder boomed loud enough~~ to ~~leave~~ men ~~stunned~~ and ~~shaken~~. ~~The torrential rains turned the land into~~ a ~~quagmire~~ of ~~mud~~, and the ~~heavily armored men~~ of ~~Morne could not withstand~~ the ~~fury~~. ~~Obsidian arrows buried into them~~, ~~piercing right through heavy plate as though they were not even wearing it~~. ~~The children danced across tree branches~~, ~~leaving no time for an organized retreat in most cases~~. ~~Men drowned in their armor~~, ~~suffocating as entire lines were subsumed by mudslides~~.

The weather during the entire campaign was exceptionally stormy, and men in heavy armor often drowned in the mud. Mounted Andal knights struggled in the wet terrain, and the visibility was poor with the torrential downpours.

== The Storming ==

The combined forces of Qarlton's host crossed from Tempest Keep to Mightpoint, and there held off an attack by Galladon's men. There was no swift victory on the isle, and the Stormmen had to go keep by keep, draining more and more of House Morne's manpower as they went. Eventually, reduced to a paltry handful of knights, the last battle at Morne saw the Andal forces shattered, and the isle fully under the control of the Storm King.

== Aftermath ==

Beron Blacktyde was named lord of Tarth, and his [[House Blacktyde of Tarth|descendants]] would rule the isle henceforth. House Uller was granted the isle of Morningside, and their lands would eventually expand to include Morne and Mightpoint over the next century. House Morne was reduced to a wandering band of knights, and would eventually go extinct, with the Just Maid disappearing into the Riverlands.
