Editing Jerion Cafferen

Jerion Cafferen was a lord of [[House Cafferen]] during the [[Coming_of_the_Andals|Andal Invasions]].

== Appearance ==
With long, flowing brown hair and a well-maintained beard that grayed with the years, it is easy to see how Jerion, the womanizer, was able to attract so many young ladies as he traveled through Westeros. Other than that, his build was rather typical and non-descript, besides only his bum left leg.

== Personality ==
Before he was wed, Jerion always set out each day with one goal in mind: find a suitable woman for the night, and then seduce her. After he married Olanne, however, he displayed a remarkable commitment to his new vows, and Jerion had a new goal each day: find a new method of pleasure to enjoy with Olanne. Unfortunately, such activities would not help Jerion with the duties of Lord, and his years of taking his life with no seriousness left his woefully unprepared to be a Lord.

== History ==
Born in 42 A.I. Jerion Cafferen gladly accompanied his father, [[Colemon Cafferen]], on his journey to cross the Narrow Sea in 65 A.I. and discover new lands for he and his people to settle in. As Jerion's older brother, Qyle, elected to stay in [[Andalos]], this left the young Jerion as his father's presumed heir, though Jerion remained woefully ignorant of that fact until it was far too late. He spent his two decades traveling around Westeros in the throngs of pleasure, sleeping around with any woman who caught his fancy, whether they be [[Andals|Andal]] or [[First Men]]. It was never known if his rakish activities led to any bastards, as the camp would always move on from a location before any consequences of his actions could catch up to Jerion.

This all ended when Colemon practically forced Jerion to wed Olanne [[House Hightower|Hightower]], both to earn some favor and protection with a powerful House in [[the Reach]], and to produce a future heir before the Cafferens in Westeros became extinct. 

Surprisingly, Jerion, the womanizer, remained committed to his new vows to Olanne, and stopped his bed-hopping. This newfound maturity came far too late however, as in 84 A.I. when his father became infirm and unable to rule the new Lordship he'd acquired for the Cafferen Peoples, Jerion was left to play Lord, even if he didn't have the title yet. 

As it turned out, years of sleeping around and not owning up to responsibility did not provide Jerion with the skills one needed to be an effective Lord, and several administrative blunders would follow. Jerion was powerless to prevent the rapid [[Disintegration of the Cafferen military|Disintegration of the Cafferen Military]], though it was doubted anyone could've stabilized that situation at that time. The effects of that crisis would not bear fruit for many decades, though Jerion's bumbling attempts to keep the military together only further hampered the Garden Coast's finances in the short term.

Fortunately, Jerion had five children with Olanne, the eldest of which, [[Theo Cafferen|Theo]], would eventually prove a relatively stabilizing force for House Cafferen. Unfortunately for Jerion, even after Colemon's death in 88 A.I. and his ascension to the status of Lord, Jerion wouldn't get to hold onto his title very long, for in 95 A.I. a relatively minor illness would eventually worsen until Jerion died in bed. He always had a weaker constitution than most men, perhaps caused by a disease caught in the decades Jerion spent sleeping around. His death left his eldest son, Theo, who was just sixteen, with the title of Lord of the Garden Coast.

Jerion was a man not suited to be Lord. He had the time to learn what he needed to know, but instead spent such time seeking the pleasures of the flesh, to his future Lordship's detriment. His seven years as Lord (effectively eleven years total in power) sowed the seeds of many of the crisis's House Cafferen would face in the decades to follow, which nearly toppled the whole House before they could truly get settled...
