Coming of the Andals
House Wade was notable for producing Willem Wade, who opposed Olyvar Yronwood's attempts to claim High Kingship over Dorne during the early decades of the Andal Invasion. Though he succeeded in keeping the Greenblood independent, his reign was characterized by a steady loss of territory and lives to Olyvar and his successor, Castor Yronwood.
After Willem's death, his heir, Devlin Wade, better known as Devlin the Kingmaker for his role in the election of Edred Lake to the Green Kingship, ruled the traditional Wade holdings of Deadglade. During his rule, the distant Arbor was captured by the Ironborn, who as a result began to raid and reave along the coast of Dorne. The Ironborn defeated several Greenblooder armies, and captured many women as thralls and men as salt-wives - among the latter was Devlin's daughter, Sarra Wade, wife to the Green King. Devlin and a coalition of other Greenblooder Lords, along with the Santagars, built and sailed a fleet with the intent of wreaking vengeance upon the Ironborn and rescuing their stolen wives and daughters, but he perished along with his comrades in the Battle of the Arbor Straits.
Succeeding Devlin was his own son, Gyren Wade.
