House Toyne of Driftmark is an Andal house ruling the west of the self-same isle. They are sworn to House Darklyn. Their seat is Driftmark, a small motte-and-bailey castle previously held by the Bar Emmons. Driftmark is almost entirely Andal, with the few who call the isle home are remnants of prior Andal armies, crews blown off course, or other that were simply left behind. House Toyne are experienced Seafarers and the Toyne fleet is key to controlling the Gullet aswell as defending Duskendale.

History
Like many Andal adventurers, House Vypren arrived with warbands of steel‑armed soldiers and Septons preaching the Seven. Rather than win converts by persuasion, Vorian Vypren’s followers threatened the First Man with sword or forced labour, compelling allegiance and attendance at their newly erected septs.
Hailing from Andalos, the Toynes were led by the warlord Thaddeus Toyne over the narrow sea into Blackwater Bay where they established camp on the isle of Driftmark in the mid-first century of the Coming of the Andals, when it was held by another Andal warlord named Togarion Bar Emmon. With the support of Duskendale, Thaddeus rooted out the Bar Emmon and took his keep for his own, swearing fealty to the Darklyns after. In 144 AI House Toyne took the islands of Sweetport Sound, Gullet isle and Longbar Landing the Mallerys, restoring the Quinces and keeping the Blackberrys of the islands.

Vorian Vypren established his power by ambushing the heirs of Lord Darry, slaying already one son. Ambitious and cunning, he seeks not only to humble House Darry but also to outwit King Tristifer IV Mudd — hoping to parlay his gains into an alliance with neighboring Andal lords or even First Men rulers.

Vorian Vypren attempted to seize the lands of the Darrys by force, hoping at the very least to capture Darry Castle so he could negotiate from a position of strength. However, King Tristifer arrived swiftly from the north, defeated him, and drove him from the region. Vorian was forced to flee toward Maidenpool, where King Florian captured him and then released him on the condition that he never again set foot in his lands.

Afterwards, Vorian made his way to the territories of Armistead Vance and, for the time being, joined his campaigns.
