The founder of House Redwind, whose name is now lost to time, was a wandering sellsword who fought in a long-forgotten war centred in the forests of Redwind, where the fighting was said to be so savage and furious the blood spilled could still be smelled a league away. This war ended with the death of the previous lords of Redwind, and the sellsword took the castle and name for his own, where his descendents have ruled as House Redwind ever since.

Between 31-32 A.I., the [[The Stormlands|Storm King]] [[Erich VII Durrandon]] would [[The March on the Slayne|march on the Slayne]] intent on reintegrating the region back into the Stormlands proper. The Redwinds opposed the [[House Durrandon|Durrandons]] but were defeated, later swearing their allegiance to [[House Slayne]] upon the march's completion.
