House Piper

House Piper are a House of First Men origin from the Western Riverlands. Their seat was once Pinkmaiden Castle. Now it is Adderstone in the River and the Hills.

History

Once vassals of the Mudd kings, House Piper held Pinkmaiden Castle under them. With the Mudds’ power waning, they are now independent. They are led by Rowan ‘Red-Maiden’ Piper, a young warrior sworn to defend her home.

Rowan Piper had stood by Sonya Blanetree’s side, determined to defy Armistead Vance and his Andal warband. But she did not win that battle. After witnessing Queen Sonya’s fate, Rowan ultimately bent the knee and married Ser Cyrus Gaunt. In return, she was allowed to live, keep her lands, and continue worshipping her river gods, though her future children would be raised in the faith of the Andal gods.

However, not all of House Piper submitted. A branch of the family fled northward, seeking refuge in the lands of King Tristifer IV Mudd. There, near Ramsford and not far from Oldstones, they were granted sanctuary and land, founding a new life under the protection of the Mudd kings, while Pinkmaiden itself passed into the hands of House Gaunt.
