"Did you know the Darklyns were kings in Duskendale before the Andals came? You'd never know t'look at me, but I got me royal blood. Can you see it?"
- A Feast for Crows[1]
Arms of House Darklyn

House Darklyn of Duskendale is a royal First Man house that rules the Dusklands between the Riverlands and Blackwater Bay. Their seat is the Dun Fort, overlooking their great city.

The Darklyn blazon their arms with black and gold fusilly. Their words are "Beneath Dusk's Dim Light".

History

The Darklyns have ruled in Duskendale as kings for centuries, overseeing the construction and then ruling from their prosperous seat of Duskendale[2], a city that was and still is the envy of Westeros. By the time of the Coming of the Andals, the Darklyns were the most powerful kingdom in the Blackwater, answering to none bar themselves.

During the early years of the Andal Invasions, King Harrold Darklyn ruled largely in peace bar for the first of many Andal invaders harrying his shores. By 20 A.I., his eldest son Staun I Darklyn would succeed him and repel the warlord Armistead Vance and hundreds of other Andals, all desiring the riches of Duskendale for themselves. By 31 A.I., a decade later, King Staun I would continue to face Andal would-be conquerors and newly landed lords, but would secure House Gaunt as a vassal.
