Nestled in the forests along the shore of a sheltered bay, the Crowls ruled over the lands of Dreggan Arer (Dragon Drift) on the North side of the main island of Skagos. They are experts at using fire to manage the surrounding forests, often resulting in a black cloud of smoke that blocks out the sun as the forest rages in flames below. Visible from the sea, it is this tradition that has given the Crowl’s home its name.

The Crowls have existed on the islands of Skagos since before the Long Night and have remained consistently at war with their neighbours, [[House_Magnar|Magnar]] and [[House_Stane|Stane]]. They had most recently conquered and claimed the ancient stone fort of Deepdown within the lands of Sudyktig (World End), named as such due to being the northernmost point of the main island of Skagos. North of Sudyktig is the remote island of Riis Du, and the lands Beyond the Wall and the endless Shivering Sea.

=== First Century A.I. ===
Kyleg Crowl defeated Brogg Magnar in a duel in 40 A.I., claiming the rule of all Skagos for himself. Afterwards he sacrificed one of Brogg's sons to the gods, whilst Kyleg's wife ripped off the head of the other - ending the line of House Magnar.
