History
When the Ironborn under King Urron Greyiron launched their conquest of the islands, the Shieldmen resisted fiercely. Castles were besieged, battles raged, and for a year the archipelago burned with defiance.
Lord Lyman Hewett of Oakenshield eventually surrendered, offering his lands in exchange for mercy for his family. Urron Greyiron accepted the surrender but executed Lord Hewett by drowning, scattering his family to the mainland.
Though the conquest was thought complete, the war continued in secret. Lords Chester, Grimm, and Serry had evaded capture and soon led a rebellion, engaging the Ironborn in a year-long campaign of guerrilla resistance. Forests became battlegrounds, longships were burned in harbor, and reavers were harried from the shadows.
In time, the uprising was crushed. Norren Chester was captured and set adrift to die. Lords Grimm and Serry were later defeated in battle and sacrificed to the Drowned God. With their deaths, the last spark of rebellion faded, and the Misty Isles fell fully under Ironborn rule
