== History ==
When no adult male heir remained, Sonya Blanetree, then barely past her coming-of-age, assumed leadership of her house, a rarity for the time. Trained by the martial Hill Clans of [[the Westerlands]] and hardened by the harsh realities of the Trident borderlands, she proved herself a capable warrior and strategist. Under her command, Stoney Holdfast held firm against raiders and rival lords, earning her the respect of her household and even her younger brothers, who left her in charge of their lands. 

Though she has never married and seeks no further conquest, Sonya’s priority remains the protection of her people and the preservation of Blanetree sovereignty.  

Her lands now lie close to the host of Andal warlord [[Armistead Vance]], whose conquests in the southern Riverlands threaten now lands of the western Riverlands.

She drew the ire of Armistead Vance and his host after refusing to bend the knee and ordering the death of his envoy, Ser Raymond [[House_Paege|Paege]], sending back his head with a warning not to set foot in her lands.
