House Banefort claims descent from the Hooded Man, the first in a long line of necromancer kings known as the Hooded Kings. The last of their line, Morgon Banefort, was defeated, together with his thralls, after a twenty-year war against Loreon I Lannister. As he lay dying, Morgon cursed his vanquishers, vowing to return from the grave. In response, Loreon had his body cut into pieces and fed to his lions. Yet two years later, those same lions broke free within Casterly Rock, slaying three of Loreon's sons. Since then they call the lion of the Rock king and remained themselves simple lords.

House Banefort are a House of First Men origin from the Westerlands. They are sworn to house Lannister. Their seat is Banefort.

The Banefort sigil is a hooded man, black on grey, within a fiery treasure
