Gorold Greatiron was the Lord of [[House Greatiron]] during the earliest years of the Andal Invasions. 

== Appearance ==

Gorold 'Giantbeard' earned his name on account of his enormous height, standing at around seven feet tall, and his enormous beard - which ran down the length of his chest. He had sandy-brown hair, and stormy brown eyes that never seemed becalmed.

== Personality ==

Gorold Greatiron was a dangerous, but ultimately very petty man. He preferred for men to fear and respect him than to like him, and forever nursed the grievance that he was firstly born of a House that lacked the storied history of the Great Houses of the Iron Islands, and secondly that he was the Lord of the [[The Giant's Fist|Giant's Fist]] - vast lands with many vassals, but far enough from the Isles themselves that he himself was ultimately seen as a man of little regard. To many Ironborn lords Gorold was little more than a game keeper descended from sons of [[Thrall|thralls]] and [[Salt Wife|salt wives]] charged with preparing good timber for the real reavers and conquerors. 

It was this spite, as well as his desire for greater station, that moved Gorold to plot with [[Urron Greyiron|Urron Redhand]] to commit the atrocity on Nagga's Hill. The moment Urron revealed his intentions to strip the Salt and Rock Kings of their royal styles, he became Urron's man. A little flattery and recognition of the Greatiron's family tradition of descent from House Greyiron - and Gorold was ready to kill for him.

Gorold Greatiron was born on the Giant's Fist, the eldest son of Lord ___ Greatiron.... (tbc)

During 31 A.I. he was present at the [[Slaughter of Nagga's Hill|Kingsmoot on Nagga's Hill]] - where he conspired with Urron Greyiron to murder the other Salt and Rock Kings whilst they convened for the Moot.
