He earned a reputation as a brave general and warrior during the twilight of his Grandfather's reign, leading two campaigns into the southern desert and bringing the Clans Parch and Dust to heel. His generosity to his followers, fierce piety and success on the battlefield made him seem the sure successor to his grandfather, already King in all but name.

However, the flawless image of the Desert Hawk was sullied during the [[Locust Wars]], in which he suffered several defeats and lost all those lands he had gained. In the uncertainty at the court of Skyreach during the war's aftermath, he made a major blunder, attempting and failing to poison his younger brother and frequent critic, [[Roryn Fowler]]. His grandfather responded by exiling him from the Kingdom, and removing him from the line of succession. The Desert Hawk would die in disgrace some years later, though his son, [[Owen Fowler]]~~, would later earn a title of his own.~~
