Editing Derek Moonfell

Lord Derek [[House Moonfell|Moonfell]] is the newest vassal of Lord Corwyn Corbray, though of [[First Men|First Man]] descent, he converted to the Faith of the Seven when he fell in love with an Andal woman.

== Appearance ==
Lord Derek Moonfell carries himself with a proud, upright stance that speaks to both discipline and hard work. His thick, light brown beard is bushy and well kept. His long hair, the same hue, falls past his shoulders, with two braids resting neatly on each side. Though he embraces andal culture, his first man heritage still shines through.

== Personality ==
Lord Derek Moonfell is a man of striking contrasts, shaped by both the brutality of his upbringing and the wisdom earned in solitude. Zealous in his devotion to the Seven and his house, he holds his duties sacred and pursues them with unwavering conviction. He looks over his people, especially the smallfolk of Rathmore, whom he regards with warmth, born from his years among them. Yet beneath that generosity lies another side to him. Derek does not shy from harsh measures or bitter sacrifices if they serve a greater good. He works hard, and no task is beneath him. To those he protects, he is a steadfast lord. To those who threaten his house or break his laws, he is unyielding.

== History ==
Lord Derek Moonfell was an only child, groomed from birth by his father, Lord Jeor Moonfell, to be the ideal heir of their ancient house. Jeor believed that the ends of House Moonfell always justified the means, and thus demanded from his son nothing less than perfection. As it became clear Derek would remain without siblings, the pressure upon him intensified. His upbringing turned harsh, lessons were often taught through pain, and discipline came with blood. The scars of his youth ran deep, but they forged a capable and disciplined man, hardened for rule.

===== 22 A.I. =====
Upon coming of age in the eyes of the First Men, Derek chose exile over staying with his father, venturing alone into the forests and villages of Rathmore. For two years, he lived among the smallfolk, learning their ways and earning their respect. Only upon hearing of Lord Jeor’s death by sickness did Derek return to Rathmore Keep to claim his title, and with it, the Moonfell heirloom, the shard of the fallen moon.

Though shaped by cruelty, his time among the people gave Derek something his father lacked. Compassion. Yet he never forgot his harsh lessons. To protect and uplift his people, he would rule with both heart and iron, knowing, as his father once did, that survival sometimes demands sacrifice.

===== 27 A.I. =====
During a grand hunt held in the deep woods of Rathmore, Lord Derek Moonfell was separated from his party and found himself lost in unfamiliar terrain. It was there he encountered Becca, a sharp tongued, beautiful woman of Andal blood, by a pond. Over time, that chance meeting blossomed into love. Becca, a devout follower of the Faith of the Seven, guided Derek to the teachings of her gods, slowly reshaping his heart and beliefs.

Together, they journeyed to Heart’s Home, where Lord Corwyn Corbray welcomed them. There, a septon was summoned to perform both the sacred rites of Derek’s conversion and their wedding, uniting them in the eyes of the Seven.

===== 31 A.I. =====
When King Dryn Hunter of Eastwald forsook his gods and bent the knee to the Faith of the Seven, his own bannermen turned against him in a furious revolt, denouncing both his crown and his gods. Among those who aided House Hunter was House Moonfell, bound by their shared worship of the Seven, they marched to the Hunters defense. Their aid was in vain, however, as King Yorwyck VI Royce cast his weight behind the rebels, sealing King Dryn Hunter's fate. Surrounded and outnumbered, the forces of Moonfell were broken alongside their allies at Longbow Hall.
