In every major conflict against [[Armistead Vance]] and his expanding Andal host, Cedric was among the first to take up arms beside his King, earning respect for both his courage and discipline in battle.

In an effort to strengthen unity among the remaining First Men kings, Cedric gave his daughter Roslin in marriage to Bastion [[House Mooton|Mooton]], forging a vital alliance between the houses of [[House Blackwood|Blackwood]], [[House Darklyn|Darklyn]], Mooton, and Mudd. Cedric fought with distinction during the [[Clash of Six Kings]], standing alongside King Tristifer IV Mudd in defense of the River and the Hills.

However, the relationship between Cedric and Tristifer later soured when Roslin fled to [[Armistead Vance]]’s court after suffering mistreatment at the hands of her husband, King Bastion Mooton. Armistead took Roslin and her children as leverage, offering Tristifer a grim choice: spare Roslin’s life and that of her children by halting any future aggression, or continue the war and see them executed. With Cedric’s reluctant consent, Tristifer chose war, but the decision strained the once-strong bond between the Mallisters and House Mudd. Though Cedric’s son and heir later married Rowena Mudd, a princess of House Mudd, the former closeness between the two houses was never fully restored.

In the final campaign to defend the last free lands of the southern Riverlands, the Mallisters answered the Mudd king’s call. Cedric personally led his banners into battle, fighting with honor and tenacity. Despite their courage, the host was defeated, and it fell once again to Cedric to negotiate with Armistead Vance. Acting as interpreter, he watched as Tristifer was forced to make painful concessions. The [[House Blackwood|Blackwoods]] and [[House Tully|Tullys]] fell under the sway of the Rivermark.

Only days after those fateful talks, Cedric died. King Tristifer was said to be inconsolable, having lost one of his oldest and dearest friends. Cedric is remembered as one of the most loyal, courageous, and principled Mallisters in living memory.
