Editing Alaric Plumm



Born of First Men stock with distant Andal blood through his mother’s line, Alaric grew up reckless, impulsive, and often in trouble. His cousin, Lucan Plumm, gave him a pivotal choice: take the black at the Wall or don the cloth of a septon. Alaric chose the cloth, setting him on a path of devout zeal and unyielding ambition.
Early Septonate 
Alaric was sent to the Reach during a period of Faith suppression. For a decade, he wandered from tower to tower, secretly proselytizing to peasants and smallfolk in barns, fields, and hidden shrines. Frequently beaten and driven away, his zeal only grew stronger, and he honed his gift for fiery speech. By the time he arrived in Oldtown, he was a ragged but thunderous preacher, uniting the faithful in quiet defiance of the ban.
Head Septon of Tommen’s Sept 
After proving himself in the Reach, Alaric was appointed Head Septon of Tommen’s Sept in Lannisport. There, he became beloved for his annual almsgiving, distributing bread and clothes to the poor. His charisma drew followers from both the noble and common classes, establishing him as both a shepherd of the poor and a scourge of heretics.
The First Conclave of the Faith 
Alaric advocated for the Most Devout office to be open to First Men. While many native septons supported him, the motion failed by a single vote, maintaining the rule that only Andals could serve as Most Devout. Despite this setback, Alaric remained influential within the Faith.
Seat at Lanns Sept
With the Conclave establishing its seat in Lannisport’s Lanns Sept, Alaric continued his work among the faithful, though still barred from the highest office. 

He cultivated a reputation as a man of the people, ministering personally to the destitute, the sick, and the widowed. Smallfolk whispered of the Head Septon who would walk barefoot through Lannisport’s streets, carrying baskets of bread, cloaks, and coins, speaking to all with the same fire and conviction. Meanwhile, nobles who sought his blessing found themselves subtly drawn into his orbit, recognizing that the support of the Faith—and of the people—was a potent instrument in the city’s power struggles.
Alaric’s influence in Lanns Sept also manifested in his mentorship of younger septons, whom he instructed not only in theology but in the art of persuasion and leadership. Many of these disciples would later become his staunch supporters within the Fait

The Burning of Lannisport
Alaric, leading a small group of faithful inside the Sept, fought to save as many lives as possible. In the chaos, he suffered grievous wounds, losing a leg to falling timbers and shrapnel. Six of the seven Most Devout were slain in the fire, and the city’s clergy were decimated. Witnessing the slaughter of his fellow septons and the desecration of holy spaces, Alaric emerged not broken, but burning with a personal and divine fury.
The smallfolk who survived the attack began to see him as a living symbol of resilience, a man chosen by the Seven to endure what others could not. Tales spread quickly: of Alaric dragging himself from the ruins, of him ministering to the dying amid the flames, and of his voice ringing through smoke and fire, calling the faithful to hope and vengeance.

Rise to Power
Using a combination of legal acumen and theological argument, he claimed his maternal Andal heritage rendered him “Andal enough” to serve as Most Devout—a loophole that conservative septons initially resisted, but which could not withstand his relentless advocacy.
Alaric framed the Ironborn attack as divine punishment for the Faith’s discrimination against First Men, casting his own survival after loosing his leg as evidence of the Father’s will. This narrative resonated with both the easily swayed smallfolk and many sympathetic septons, giving him moral authority that extended far beyond the confines of Lannisport.
Once installed as Most Devout, Alaric became both shepherd and sword. He organized relief for the city’s survivor

Later Years
In the aftermath, Alaric established himself as a beacon of hope amid the ruins of Lannisport. He held annual rites of charity and drove Recruitment efforts for he Most Holy Order of the Blades of the Warrior, rallying noble and common alike to avenge the city. He declared a holy fury against the Ironborn, vowing their eradication from Westeros.
